This past weekend Sungmin Son, Melissa Pagnotta, Ashley Kraayeveld, and Lorraine Tu competed in the 2008 Commonwealth Taekwondo Games that were held in Winnipeg. At this game there were many top Canadian athletes and also top athletes from Australia, England, New Zealand and Wales. Many of the other countries had to qualify to have been eligible to compete in these games. So the level of competition was quit outstanding.

Sungmin won his opening match with Australia. Then lost to a Canadian in a very close semi-final match. Despite the semi-final loss, Sungmin came back to win two consecutive matches to win the Bronze medal in his Sr. Fly Weight division.

Melissa Pagnotta also won her opening fight against Canada. Fighting in the finals with another Canadian, Melissa won Gold in her Sr. Light Weight division.

Ashley Kraayeveld lost her first match to a Canadian in the semi-finals. Then won her repachage against another Canadian to clam the bronze medal in her Jr. Light-Heavy division.

Lorraine Tu winning a silver medal in her Jr. Fly division.
Lost to a Canadian in the finals.
